This week the rebooted Ghostbusters hits theaters, and the much anticipated but also much feared movie is actually generating positive buzz, based on early reviews now available at Rotten Tomatoes. Along with that relief, we've got some new goodies to get you more hyped and maybe more hungry while you wait the remaining days until its release.
Check out some clips and more below.
Ghostbusters Marshmallow Burgers
First, to whet your appetite, or bust it, here's a weird promotional tie-in from Japan. The fast-food chain J.S. Burgers Cafe has introduced a few items to its menu inspired by the Ghostbusters movies, and one of them is particularly intriguing. In addition to a "Ghostbusters Burger" featuring very spicy ghost peppers and a black bun, as well a Slimer-inspired "Green Ghost Shake" made with apple, avocado, spinach, kiwi and green tea ice cream, below you'll find the Stay Puft-inspired "Marshmallow Mad Burger" packed with toasted marshmallow, melted chocolate and Oreo cookies. Yum! See the other items at Bloody Disgusting.
A Scene for the Haters
As we noted, the reboot has gotten a lot of hateful criticism, sight unseen, by people who just can't handle that the Ghostbusters are women in this version or that it's a lot more joke filled and slapstick focused than the original. Fortunately, the negativity began before the movie was done shooting, so a response was able to be added. Apparently there is a scene where the women upload a video of their ghost-busting to YouTube, and they basically get the same comments on that as they have for the movie. And they react accordingly, hilariously. It's a bit that was actually already written, as the interview below indicates, but a little different.
New Clips!
Finally, five new clips from the movie have been released, each showcasing the humorous tone more than action or special effects. And that's fine, because the tone is what gets us in the mood to then enjoy the action and effects-filled plot. There are a couple with gags involving the Ghostbusters' gadgets, a couple spotlighting the new Ecto-1 hearse, and a couple featuring the supporting talents of Chris Hemsworth, who plays the Ghostbusters' receptionist. All of them are pretty funny. If you don't find any of it delightful, then sure, maybe this Ghostbusters isn't for you after all.
Ghostbusters opens July 15.
