After pulling the first trailer for Gangster Squad due to a violent shooting scene reminiscent of the tragic Colorado theater shooting back in July, Warner Bros. has now released a second, re-edited trailer.
The release date was also bumped back to January 11 to allow time to re-edit and re-shoot certain scenes and it seems safe to say that the theater shooting scene was removed from the final cut.
Honestly though, you'll barely notice it as James Brolin, Ryan Goslin and Sean Penn spend a good majority of the trailer shooting guns at one another and blowing up cars.
The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and finds Brolin and Gosling as two hard-boiled detectives who are assigned to create a covert police squad to take down mobster Mickey Cohen (Penn). Emma Stone co-stars as the femme fatale and Michael Pena, Anthony Mackie and Robert Patrick also appear in the film.
Take a look at the new trailer. Does this look like it might be one of the better films opening in January? Do you think the theater shooting scene should be removed from the theatrical version?
