The first R-rated release from J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot, best known lately for surprise deliveries of Cloverfield movies, is Overlord, a film set during World War II. When we first heard about it, speculation ran rampant that it tied into the Cloverfield universe somehow, but instead it appears to be a completely stand-alone movie, albeit one with plenty of footage that justifies its rating.
The final trailer has now been released. It starts off like it's a normal World War II suspense drama. But soon enough, we see the real horror of Overlord, and it's not the usual wartime terrors.

What's the story?
The synopsis reads as follows: "On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”
Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street), Jovan Adepo (Fences) and Pilou Asbæk, best known for playing Euron Greyjoy in the last season of Game of Thrones.
Who is directing?
Julius Avery. He directed a handful of dramatic shorts before his feature-length debut Son of a Gun in 2014.
When will Overlord be released in theaters?
November 9, 2018.
