Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah is quickly putting together an impressive cast of actors. Whether the compilation of all that talent will result in a critical and blockbuster success is anyone's guess, but the film has added a couple actors familiar with major franchises.
Emma Watson is in talks to join the film to play Ila, a young woman who develops a close relationship with Noah's son, Shem. That role will be played by Douglas Booth, the twenty-something British actor who will be seem opposite True Grit upstart Hailee Steinfeld in Romeo and Juliet later this year.
Additionally, Logan Lerman, who co-stars with Watson in the upcoming The Perks of Being a Wallflower, will play Noah's other son, Ham. Lerman is also better known from the title role of the Percy Jackson series.
Still to be cast is Noah's wife, a role Jennifer Connelly has been a leading candidate, though there is word now that Julianne Moore is also in contention for the part. As solid an actor as Moore may be, the chemistry and connection between Connelly and Crowe is undeniable. The duo collaborated on Ron Howard's 2001 multi-Oscar winning drama A Beautiful Mind.
Noah's nemesis is also yet to be cast and there's word that Liev Schreiber may be the latest actor to step into consideration for the role. Liam Neeson was initially considered for the part but turned it down. Apparently his particular set of skills don't include taking on Biblical figures.
Production on the film begins next month with Russell Crowe in the title role and is slated to arrive in theaters March 28, 2014.
