It's one of the hottest books in the country, and it's about to become the next film from director David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network). Though The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo has already been adapted into a hit Swedish film, Fincher and his crew have decided to make the story a bit more accessible by adapting it for American audiences with more well-known actors (that's what you do with foreign films that people refuse to watch because they hate reading subtitles).

Fans committed to the original Swedish adaptations of the best-selling books feel that no one can capture the film's angsty female heroine, Lisbeth Salander, with as much fierce determination as Noomi Rapace. But that may change when they set their sights on Rooney Mara, who was chosen to play Salander in Fincher's version. A few images of Mara practicing her motorcycle skills have arrived online, and while she doesn't look like she's 100% camera-ready for the role (the images probably reflect training exercises), you can still see the transformation beginning to take place, starting with that jet-black hair and pale skin tone.

Do you think Rooney Mara will do a good job as Lisbeth Salander, especially since she doesn't have a ton of experience starring in big roles? Check out two images here (courtesy of Rooney Mara Network) and let us know what you think.
