One of our most anticipated movies of 2016 is the latest animated feature from Walt Disney. Zootopia could turn out to be the cleverest non-Pixar release from the studio in ages, and a recent spot highlighting a hilarious scene at a sloth-run DMV has already made it a huge hit with moviegoers this holiday season.
Now there's another full trailer for the feature, which sort of looks inspired by Richard Scarry books but is a completely original work from the animation house traditionally known for adapting classic fairy tales. Well, there are some things lifted from other material as homage, such as the umpteenth spoof of The Godfather, but otherwise it's entirely fresh.
Zootopia is set in a world full of anthropomorphic mammals, and as we learn from this new trailer there is something bad going down in the titular city where some animals are turning savage. Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin voice the lead characters, respectively a con artist fox and a rookie-cop rabbit, paired up for a case following buddy-cop and film noir genre conventions.
The movie also features the voices of Idris Elba (heard in the trailer as the police chief), Alan Tudyk, J.K. Simmons, Jenny Slate, Bonnie Hunt, Octavia Spencer, Tommy Chong, Tommy "Tiny" Lister and Shakira. See it in theaters starting March 4, 2016, but first watch the new trailer here:
