With Pixar planning sequels for both Toy Story and Cars, it doesn't surprise us in the least to hear that they're now looking to sequelize one of my favorite films, Monsters, Inc. Though Monsters, Inc. (and Up) director Pete Docter remained tight-lipped on a potential sequel while making the rounds promoting Up, word out of the Licensing International Expo (via Jim Hill) is that Disney and Pixar are very interested in a sequel and Docter is already hard at work planning one.

I wouldn't get too overly excited just yet, though, seeing as any such sequel wouldn't hit theaters until 2013 most likely, seeing as Pixar's immediate plans are to release Toy Story 3 (2010), Cars 2 (2012), Newt (2011) and The Bear and the Bow (Christmas 2011). Argh … why does animation take so long!? Also on the agenda at the Expo: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 has set a tentative Summer 2012 release date and Disney plans to launch what they hope will be a Lone Ranger franchise starring Johnny Depp by Summer 2011.

Which film are you most excited for: Monsters, Inc. 2, The Lone Ranger or Pirates of the Caribbean 4?
