From Lizerne Guiting: Making box office headlines lately are Iron Man (good) and Speed Racer (mmm, not so much), but did you know Death Note, another live-action film adaptation, outsold both in Fandango ticket sales for tonight’s special theater event? The nationwide, two-night screening includes exclusive footage and a behind-the-scenes look at how the characters come to life.

In Tsugumi Ohba’s manga series turned anime turned feature-length sci-fi thriller, Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara), a brainy 17-year-old, finds a notebook entitled "Death Note." After discovering its power to kill anyone by simply writing a name on its pages, Light (get the subtle symbolism?) decides to rid the world of criminals. His "serving of justice" spirals out of control, and it's not long before a brilliant detective named L sets out to capture Light, who transforms into an elusive killer.

Complex storyline sound interesting? It’s not too late to buy tickets.
