The Harry Potter kids are all grown up, and it’ll be interesting to see how their careers pan out once their 8-film stint officially comes to an end this summer. While we’ve heard rumblings that Emma Watson may join Taylor Lautner in a big action film called Incarceron, Daniel Radcliffe looks to be searching for quieter material.
Variety reports the actor will star in the indie comedy The Amateur Photographer based on Christopher Monger’s novel of the same name (he’ll also write the screenplay and direct himself). In the film, which takes place in 1970, Radcliffe will play a young man who’s drafted to be a photographer for the people of a small New England town, capturing all their most intimate moments while at the same time discovering his artistic calling.
It sounds like a small, charming film for Radcliffe, and one that will take him away from all the big-budgeted effects of the Harry Potter franchise. Whether the actor will return to the big stuff is unknown at this time since he seems to prefer working on smaller movies in between Potter, and that could continue now that the franchise is over. His first post-Potter role to hit the big screen is in The Woman in Black, due out later this year.
