Comic-Con 2014 provided an intense burst of news, posters, star appearances and teasers, plenty of teasers. From the horror side of things, here are the four essential bits of information that we took away from San Diego.
The Evil Dead
Sam Raimi announced at Comic-Con that he and his brother Ivan Raimi are working on a new version of The Evil Dead for television. No further details were announced, although Bruce Campbell indicated via Twitter that the plan is for him to star in the series. [Screen Rant/Dread Central]
See No Evil 2
The fearsome Jacob Goodnight, portrayed by professional wrestler Kane, returns in the sequel to the 2006 original. Danielle Harris and Katharine Isabelle star as medical students who must deal with the resurrected Goodnight in a hospital morgue. The movie hits home via video-on-demand platforms on October 17. Tusk
Justin Long stars as a podcaster who travels the country visiting with people of interest. When his travels take him to Canada, he makes the fateful acquaintance of Michael Parks, a man who has a very disturbing interest in walruses. Kevin Smith's return to horror-comedy territory hits theaters on September 19. [A24 Films]
Constantine
Matt Ryan stars in NBC TV's new series, based on the long-running comic book series Hellblazer. According to the official synopsis, John Constantine "struggles with his faith as he is haunted by the sins of his past and is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness." Neil Marshall (The Descent; Game of Thrones) directed the pilot episode; the weekly series will debut October 24 on NBC. [JoBlo]
