If you’ve ever seen a picture of John Lasseter, chances are pretty good that he was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Back in April (April Fools Day to be exact) when promotion for Cars 2 was just beginning, Lasseter invited San Francisco Chronicle reporter Peter Hartlaub to take a look at his massive Hawaiian shirt collection. While the full collection numbers well over 1,000 shirts, inside the closet, 374 shirts that are currently in "active rotation" are separated by category, from Pixar themes to Disney-related shirts as well as seasonal and baseball shirts. There's even a special John Lasseter Hawaiian shirt featuring icons from the director's life.
Toward the end of the video, when Lasseter has picked the shirt he’s going to wear for that day’s promo work, he learns that his wife has played a brilliant April Fools joke on him.
