Pictured above: Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron struts his stuff alongside a black X-wing fighter. And yes, there's a reason why it's black, but director J.J. Abrams is keeping that secret for now.
Fans were a little bummed out to hear that no new footage or trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will debut during this weekend's D23 convention (rumor has it the next The Force Awakens trailer will hit in late September), but they said nothing about new images. As part of its fall preview, EW just dropped a bunch of new pics from the highly anticipated sequel to Return of the Jedi, due out on December 18.
We've got our first official look at C-3PO and R2-D2 back together, and you'll notice 3PO has a red arm this time around. Why? We don't know yet.
Also among the pics is this frightening new look at the film's central villain, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and his homemade lightsaber.
Then there's Finn (John Boyega) escaping from the crash-landing of his TIE fighter. From what we know, Finn begins the movie as a stormtrooper before teaming with Rey (Daisy Ridley), also seen below with Finn running from the First Order.
And here's a cute shot of Rey rescuing her droid BB-8 from some kind of scavenger.
Finally, more bad guys! There's General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the latter of whom has a pretty wicked origin story in terms of where she got her name, says EW.
You can scope out a few more pics at EW. Star Wars: The Force Awakens drops on December 18.
