It’s been a long time coming, but one of Broadway’s most popular (and most entertaining) musicals is finally getting the big-screen treatment. It’s not that no one wanted to produce a movie musical version of Jersey Boys, but that the rights weren’t even up for sale until about six weeks ago. Once they did go on the market, naturally folks went after them hard – with Graham King (of GK Films) eventually winning out. King is one of the producers behind several major films, like The Departed, The Town, The Tourist and many others.

'Jersey Boys'

Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, who wrote the book for the musical, will again be writing the script for this movie. Jersey Boys follows the formation of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and tells the complete history of the group by following them through, well, four seasons: winter, summer, spring and fall, with each season representing another crucial time in the group’s history.

Having seen the show myself, I can vouch for it being one of the most entertaining I’ve seen in years, and I could easily see it appealing to a wide audience in movie theaters, what with its bad boy vibe and fun, familiar tunes like ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and ‘Oh What a Night’. The only thing left to do now is cast this sucker. Any ideas on who you’d get to star as either Frankie Valli or one of the Four Seasons?
