After skipping last week’s box office challenge due to only one film arriving in theaters (Shutter Island), we’re back now with our predicting gloves on and our game faces ready. While Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island carried enough star power to give it the top spot last week, things may be different this week as a scary flick and a funny flick enter the box office arena in search of that magical spot at the top of the charts. Here’s what’s playing this week:

'Cop Out' and 'The Crazies'

What’s the Scoop: Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan star in this comedy directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) about two wacky cops who try to chase down a stolen baseball card.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Stupid looking comedies in the middle of winter usually make a killing (see: Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Norbit, Wild Hogs), and so even though the critics are tearing this sucker apart, I could see Willis and Morgan drawing in crowds.

What’s the Scoop: In this remake of the 1973 film, the folks who live in a small town in Iowa are plagued by a contaminated water supply that causes everyone to go insane and start killing each other.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Strong positive buzz could carry this one far after its initial weekend, but a lack of star power may hurt its opening numbers. If I were heading to the movies this weekend, this would be the film I’d see.

My Prediction: Once again, a snow storm on the east coast could affect the final numbers in some way, shape or form. Strictly due to the amount of advertising I’ve seen for it, I’m going to go with Cop Out winning the weekend, though I wouldn’t count out both Shutter Island and The Crazies just yet.

Now it’s your turn – who do you think will win the weekend?
