Is this really the film that's supposed to change the way we watch movies forever? That's what visionary filmmaker James Cameron would like you to believe, and based on this brand new extended trailer for Avatar…well, he might be right. Though this is the kind of film that deserves to be watched in a large theater equipped with a large sound system, it's fairly obvious that, if anything, come December 18th , we'll all be served a very large helping of fantastical visuals while we travel to the distant planet of Pandora with our 3D glasses firmly planted on our faces.

The film follows a paraplegic war veteran (Sam Worthington) who's promised a new set of legs if he helps the military kick a bunch of aliens (called the Na'vi) off their land so that we can collect a rock that sells for millions of dollars back on earth. Since humans can't breathe on the planet of Pandora, they've developed a procedure which implants their mind into the body of an avatar, which in this case takes the form of one of the Na'vi. So, as this Na'vi avatar, our war veteran must infiltrate the enemy territory and fulfill his mission.

Problems arise, though, when he falls for one of the female aliens and begins to feel compassion and a sense of loyalty toward the Na'vi. From there it looks like a pretty freakadelic war is on the horizon, complete with flying animals and spears and giant robots – basically, everything you'd want in an action movie…and then some.
