We all have have mom friends who fill particular roles in our lives. Some we go shopping with, some are workout buddies and others are a great hang to relax with over a glass of wine. In celebration of the various sorts of friendships we moms have (and need), here’s a light-hearted look at some moms from the movies and how we could imagine fitting them into our lives.

Get Pumped
Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from The Terminator
You know what’s inspirational? Linda Hamilton’s biceps, Her chiseled arms in the Terminator movies have been coveted by many a mom who yearns to go strapless with confidence. This is the mom you want next to you at the gym to help you reach your fitness goals.

In Case of Emergency
Helen Parr / Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) from The Incredibles
When saving the world, you must have strength, stamina and superpowers. Mom of three Helen Parr, aka Elastigirl, has all that and more. In helping you save society, she could enlist her superpower enabled spouse and kids. She’s also a trained pilot and can transform into many useful objects, like a parachute or a boat. And if you aren’t tasked with trying to save the world, her Elastagirl attributes can come in handy for so many everyday challenges, like reaching that jar on the top shelf.

Shopaholics Unite!
Mrs. George (Amy Poehler) in Mean Girls
Like, oh my God, Amy Poehler’s character in Mean Girls is soo fetch! While most moms pride themselves on growing up and being, well, mom-like, Mrs. George clings to her youth. Sure, it may come off as a bit desperate, but it could be like totally rad hanging out with her at the mall and getting in touch with your inner teen for the day.

Go Beyond Glamping
Merida’s Mom (Emma Thompson) in Brave
Would you be able to survive in the wild without a motel, Quickie Mart or an iPhone in sight? Like many of us who have been conditioned by the comfort of modern living, odds are it would be a challenge to stay alive in the great outdoors on our own. Merida’s mom in Brave would be super helpful in a case like this. At least for the part of the movie where she turns into a bear. Like sushi? She could guide you to the best fishing places (yum, fresh salmon), help find shelter and have the necessary strength to prevail.

More than a PTA Pal
Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) in The Blind Side
For your PTA president you’d want someone who can take charge, who cares and who wants kids to succeed – Leigh Anne Tuohy (both in real life and on screen) is that woman. She’s tough, no nonsense and has a whole lotta heart, just what all parents need in a leader. Plus, she’s such a powerhouse multi-tasker, you probably won’t ever have to lift a finger.

Have a Spot of Tea
Mary Brown (Sally Hawkins) in Paddington
Mary Brown, Paddington’s very British host, has such a whimsical and slightly wild abode that it would be utterly delightful to hang out, talk children’s literature and have a spot of tea right there in her kitchen. And if you like marmalade – Paddington’s favorite food – you’d be very much in luck.

She Just Gets You …
Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) in Shrek
Everyone tries to fit-in in a variety of different way by the way we dress, talk or look. But Princess Fiona said goodbye to all that when she went from pretty princess to a green ogre. And you know what? She couldn’t be happier in her new incarnation. She’s always there to remind you that it doesn’t matter how many wrinkles you have or how many pounds you’ve gained, it’s who you are in your heart that matters.
