For a guy best known for directing films like Rain Man, Wag the Dog and Toys, the new trailer from Barry Levinson's The Bay may come as a bit of a surprise. Yes, it's another found-footage horror film, but unlike the ones that camp out in theaters for a couple weekends (if they get that far) and then book it to home video, The Bay has the potential to be a sleeper hit.
The film chronicles the chaos that breaks out in a small Maryland town when a flesh-eating parasite goes viral.
There's a lot going on during the film's 84 minute run time, including body horror, creepy worms, government conspiracies, zombies, the actress who played Patricia on The Walking Dead and Kristen Connolly from Cabin in the Woods.
The Bay opens on November 2, but if buzz picks up from upcoming screenings at Toronto and New York film festivals, we might see it in theaters on the weekend before Halloween.
