I’ve been a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise since the beginning and I’d like to say I live my life a quarter mile at a time. And Wednesday night's quarter mile was pretty epic!
Universal Pictures asked me to be the red carpet host for the world premiere of Furious 7 Wednesday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. My tasks would be to interview the cast and hype up the thousands of fans who would line up to see their favorite stars. Oh, and of course see the movie and enjoy the after-party. My answer: “Umm, hellll yeah!!”
As a car girl, I couldn’t help but be revved up about this opportunity. And as a girly girl, I couldn’t be more amped about getting glam!
Finally, the time came to put the pedal to the metal and get to work.
One by one, the cast and crew of Furious made their way to my platform. In talking with them, it became clear that the unifying theme for the evening – and the Fast & Furious franchise – was how much they appreciate the incredible support and love they get from the fans and the Furious family, which included a red carpet appearance by Fast 6 baddie Owen Shaw, otherwise known as Luke Evans. And, spoiler alert: he smelled like heaven and happiness! I know you wanted to know.
Furious 7 not only has all your favorite characters, but some new cool cats, like Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel and Tony Jaa, who was so excited he literally flipped!
When you’re on a red carpet, you truly never know what’s going to happen. I was so looking forward to chatting with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez, but they spent so much time hanging with the fans, taking selfies and signing autographs, that they had to RUN inside the theater to introduce the movie, which was, in a word, "Awesome!"
The cars. The stunts. The fights. The music. And of course, incredibly touching moments honoring the late Paul Walker. There may have been tears shed. Oh wait, no "may" about it. Paul was my very first interview from the Fast & Furious family. He was so laid-back, kind, and in even in my short time with him, I got to see what Vin, Tyrese, Michelle and Jordana got to see every day on set. Jordana talked to me about that.
After the movie, we headed across the street to the after-party at the Roosevelt Hotel where a DJ got things going to a fever pitch playing songs from all the Fast & Furious soundtracks. I think Dom would be proud of this video.
This party was a dream come true. Not only were there cars and cast members, there was also GAMING. I got my hands on an Xbox One and played a little Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious.
Not a bad way for this girl to end what was a truly unforgettable and kick-ass night! Here’s to 7 more Fast & Furious movies and yep, I’ll be first in line!
