Well this changes everything! Yesterday we brought you word that Angelina Jolie had announced a new film that she’d be shooting this fall. Set in Bosnia during the war, it was to follow a couple trying to navigate romantic waters while all hell is breaking loose around them. Right from the start everyone had assumed that Jolie would be starring as the female side of what she called a “love story,” though new information has revealed something a tad more exciting: Jolie will actually be directing the movie instead off a script that she wrote.
The news comes from the production company behind the film, GK Films, and what’s interesting about this project is that the insanely high-profile Jolie is going extremely low profile when it comes to this movie. Not only will she not be starring, but she’ll also be casting all unknowns who are native to the region.
The movie is currently without an announced title, and the official plot description goes something like this: “A love story set during the Bosnian war, the film focuses on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship."
It’s a ballsy move on Jolie’s part to choose such a challenging project as her first film behind the camera (what with them shooting on location halfway around the world with amateur actors), but it’s definitely an intriguing idea.
