Best thing about the SAG Awards? Betty White. By far. I don't count myself as the biggest "Golden Girls" fan on the planet, but something about the way 88-year-old Lifetime Achivement Award winner White was able to mix class and crass (loved the crack about the boys she'd "had" in the room) with equal dignity seemed downright heartfelt, genuine and just thoroughly entertaining.
I was also glad Globes winners Jeff Bridges (yes!), Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz all repeated their wins at the SAGs, which should make for a diverse night out for the upcoming Oscars. Avatar fans, no need to fret. Your favorite movie of the year will be receiving lots of technical nominations/wins, and Best Picture and Best Director noms at least are a lock. Plus, who doesn't like a good contest? Now that Inglourious Basterds has picked up Best Ensemble at the SAGs, who knows? Maybe it'll be a three-way race between IB, Avatar and critics' darling (and phenomenal film) The Hurt Locker? Or maybe some other dark horse? It's gonna be interesting.
