Adam Sandler is currently in the process of rebooting Three Men and a Baby, but with a twist. The rumor that’s been burning up the web over the weekend is that Sandler’s version of the 1987 Ted Danson-Tom Selleck-Steve Guttenberg comedy finds the guys as gay lovers. On top of that, Sandler regulars, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider are said to be playing the lead roles while Sandler will produce the film through his production company Happy Madison and most likely cameo.
MovieWeb claims that Sandler’s gay lovers idea was spawned from an episode of MTV’s Real Life in which three gay men attempted to bring a fourth person into their relationship.
Disney has been holding back a remake for a while. In 2009, a reboot of the franchise was rumored to star Zac Efron, Jonah Hill and Justin Long. There has also been talk for quite some time of a sequel titled Three Men and a Bride which would reunite the original cast for a wedding. Both the remake and sequel have stalled, though Disney is eager to work with Sandler again. The Mouse House distributed 2008’s Bedtime Stories.
If the rumors are true then this could be Sandler’s next producing gig after starring in I Hate You Dad and Hotel Transylvania. He’ll also star opposite himself in drag in Jack and Jill, out November 11.
