As they reunite for their 50th anniversary world tour this year, The Beach Boys are now getting a musical. A fictional story is being put together using Beach Boys songs and will be directed by The Vow's Michael Sucsy.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producers behind Chicago and Hairspray will produce this untitled movie which is said to be akin to Across the Universe, the 1007 Oscar-nominated movie which starred Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess and the music of The Beatles.

The Vow is the first movie to cross the $100 million mark for the year, thanks to a strategic release date by Screen Gems, a well-planned social marketing campaign and the combination of Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, both of whom are romantic drama veterans. Critics gave mixed reviews, but Fandango fans certainly enjoyed it.

No release date has been given, so for now we'll just have to wonder who will Rhonda help, what will the Sloop John B look like and where will John Stamos cameo? Perhaps on that magical island known as Kokomo.
