Summer might be wrapping up, but movie fans already have their eyes on the big screen this fall. According to Fandango’s 2025 Most Anticipated Fall & Horror Movies Survey, based on more than 2,000 ticket buyers, audiences are gearing up for one of the most exciting film lineups. 

From blockbuster sequels like Tron: Ares and Mortal Kombat II to chilling horror flicks, comedies, and dramas, there’s something for everyone hitting theaters between September 1 and October 31. “This fall’s movie season looks to offer something for a variety of audiences,” said Shawn Robbins, Director of Analytics at Fandango. “From fan favorites to fresh thrills, there’s no shortage of entertainment to grace the big screen.” And when fans go to the movies, they want the full experience, as 70% said they’re eager to see films in premium formats like IMAX.

Of course, no fall season is complete without horror. Fandango’s survey revealed that 82% of horror fans prefer seeing scary movies in a theater, saying the immersive atmosphere makes the thrills even more intense. With new nightmares and returning franchises on the way, horror lovers are in for a treat.
