Based on Lanford Wilson's semi-autobiographical play, this drama focuses on Alan (Kevin Bacon), a young man who leaves his home in Nebraska and moves to California to reunite with his long-absent father, Douglas (Tom Atkins). Acclimating to his new environment and unfamiliar family, including stepbrother Jerry (Casey Affleck), Alan struggles to find his place.
