After returning home from the war, Dorian Doubleday (William Tracy) goes to work for newspaper magnate Winfield Blake (Emory Parnell) as a rookie crime reporter. Blake, who wants to publish a story about the city's corrupt gangsters, is being extorted by burlesque performer Bubbles LaRue (Joan Woodbury), who works for the mob. But what Blake doesn't know, and Doubleday does, is that Bubbles is ready to double-cross her employers and give up her diary, which could put the mobsters away forever.
