While director Roland Emmerich was doing press for 2012, he spoke about the possibility of bringing back the Independence Day franchise for not just one, but two sequels – making it a complete trilogy. Since Emmerich likes to talk out of his you know what, a lot of folks thought it was just wishful thinking – kinda like the 2012 TV show he also wanted to do, but didn't because of budgetary concerns.

Hey, this is basically a complete spinoff of the "Pick Will Smith's next movie" Blog. Interestingly enough, quite a few of those comments were related to more independence day films. Well, as I commented on that blog, definitely anything other than the "part of new york detatching and floating to wherever." Of coarse, this is another sequel, but I think they can play with the plot a little more than a MIB sequel. Very glad to hear this.

I love how people demand a sequel and whine when it fails. That being said I think Will Smith is one of the best actors out there today, and has made good choices about what movies to be a part of in the past, so I am looking forward to it. However, I'm not to optimistic about it being a blockbuster smash like the first Independence day, and if it is I'll be pleasantly wrong, If it's not I won't whine about it.

I enjoyed both Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum, they had great chemistry, and complimented one another, I think they should bring both back, most sequels lose out because they don't stick with the original actors who introduced the character. So, don't forget Jeff, both men are very HOT

I loved ID, and have watched it millions of times. It's in my "Top 2" most exciting movies ever!! I've always planned my own sequel, with roles for everyone!! I will look foward to Roland's sequel with great excitement...and, yes, Will Smith MUST be there...and Viveca, and Bill Pullman, and Margaret Colin, etc. etc. I wish they were already filming; I don't think I can wait another 5 years for this to happen!!!

when will someone make a half life 2 movie? If they did a GOOD movie of that, which would require the greatest acheivement of the 21st century. (otherwise it would just be a peiceo f crap/). I would go see it 10 times, hands down. If it turns out like doom, I might kill the director. Yea, Im not kidding. But yea, putting ambitions into a more realistic realm, independence day? sounds good, they should go for it....corny slightly stupid movie, but great movie.
