Historically speaking, five guys have ruled the month of July at theaters: Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Spider-Man, Batman and Harry Potter. The domestic opening-weekend box office totals from the movies starring those three men could fund several Third World countries.
Several movies opening this month have the potential to join this list of titles including Despicable Me 2, The Wolverine and maybe even Grown Ups 2 (the first one opened to $40.5 million).
Here are the top 25 biggest domestic movie openings for the month of July. These totals are courtesy of BoxOfficeMojo (we left War of the Worlds off the list since it opened June 24) Are any of your favorites on the list?
