Ice Cube's Taking Kevin Hart (and Audiences) on a Hilarious 'Ride Along'

Buddy action movies rise and fall on the chemistry shared between the leads. Audiences felt Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy had plenty, so The Heat became a weekend smash. The same ticket buyers didn’t buy into Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, so White House Down struggled.
Ride Along shouldn’t have such problems. Pairing comedian Kevin Hart with tough guy Ice Cube for a buddy-cop comedy looks like a masterstroke, if the teaser trailer for Tim Story’s upcoming film is any indication.

The set up is short, sweet and incredibly simple. Hart plays a security guard who’s trying to impress his girlfriend’s brother (Ice Cube). In order to prove himself, he agrees to go on a police-sanctioned Ride Along. Hilarity ensues.
Universal believes in the comedy, as it recently was reported that a script treatment for a sequel has been greenlit. In the meantime, Story’s Ride Along cruises into theaters in Jan. 17, 2014. The studio shared a slew of photos to go with the trailer. And if you are a rabid Hart fan, be sure to grab tickets to his concert film, Let Me Explain, which opens in theaters on July 3.
