During an interview with Empire magazine, Peter Jackson revealed the running time of the first Hobbit film.
"It's looking like it's going to be about ten minutes shorter than Fellowship was," Jackson said. "So it's going to be officially our shortest Middle-earth yet. I mean, Fellowship was just under three hours and this is about 2 hours, 40 minutes at the moment."
The time doesn't include the ending credits which haven't been added yet (and perhaps a post-credit scene), plus some effects shots that need to be finalized which could alter the time a bit.
But while we wait for the official running time announcement from Warner Bros. and/or Jackson, how about entering our Hobbit sweepstakes, which includes round-trip airfare for two to New Zealand, three nights hotel stay and two tickets to the world premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in RealD 3D!
If you don't win the grand prize, there's still other cool stuff to win. One second place winner will get an LG 47-inch Smart 3D HDTV and 10 runner-up winners will receive two Fandango movie tickets to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey!
Entering is simple. Just fill out this form by 5 p.m. PST on Nov. 1, 2012. That's it!
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is due in theaters on December 14 in RealD 3D, IMAX, IMAX 3D and regular 35mm.
