What was originally a rumor now appears to have some legitimacy behind it, as Mark Wahlberg has announced that he will officially re-team with director David O. Russell on an adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Not only that, but he could be joined by two guys we haven't seen team up together in a film in a good while: Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
Mark Wahlberg, David O. Russell

i think mark walhberg is a pretty good choice, but i would prefer david boreanaz from "bones". I hope they stick to the story from the game, my bro is a big gamer and thats what made me want to play it. was that it was like an interactive movie. i do not get the joe pesci thing, they need to brinf on some younger dominican guy to play the villain. if thats the part they were thinking for him. i also think that keri russel would be a BA elena fisher, just sayin
I don't know Max Payne was bloody horrible. Cant say i see good things in this endeavor!
I see potential, if they follow the game they will have large success. It's story captivated gamers, but the story can capture action adventure crowd as well. Think about it, there is no action adventure game that competes with Uncharted. Naughty Dog did a great script and action style game.
If they follow Naughty Dogs formula then they shouldn't have an issue.
Loved the game beaten them both multiple times, and yes a i would love to see it adapted to the big screen. One thing does however worry me. In the above article it talks about Drakes gather and uncle. I don't ever remember seeing either of them in Drakes Fortune, granted it's been a while but not that long. They are already casting characters into the story that were not there before. This is a bad move. Sully is supposed to be the father figure in drakes life, Having all these extra characters and back story takes away from the character that is drake, and I think if they keep walking down this path, they will ruin this movie.
I completely agree. I think it would be much more successful if they stay true to the story. that's what completely killed Max Payne, well that and Mila Kunis. Robert DeNiro could definitely play Sully, although I think Bruce Campbell would be a better choice. I don't see Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake either. And what the hell is Joe Pesci doing in this movie?
YES!!! Bruce Campbell would be awesome in that part. He's great in his B movies, and he is awesome on Burn Notice. Brilliant!!!!
Yeah I was trying to think of a better Drake but no inspiration there so oh well.
If you've seen of the old mobster movies like Casino you'll see that Pesci actually turns into a really, really crazy roothless wise guy. In that movie he mad a great antagonist because he was all about shooting, fighting, roothlessness, and just crazyness... Where Deniro played the clever, smart, follow through style wise guy.
Which actually could blend nicely, Pesci could make a good bad guy. In the game the villain was a bad ass, not too bright. I think Pesci could pull a bad guy off quite well.
I just hope the sarcasm while you played is conveyed into the script somehow.
Well I have seen Casino and I'm not saying Pesci couldn't play a decent villain. However I was posting that in response to the article stating above that Pesci would be playing an uncle with DeNiro playing the father. The hole point we are trying to make is that this would alter the story significantly from the game which we feel could be a disastrous mistake.
I enjoyed Drake:Uncharted island and look forward to an action-adventure type franchise and after seeing Mark Wahlberg in Shooter I believe he fits the role even though Nathan from serenity showed and interest in the lead role. I believe that joining the three together DeNiro, Pesci and Wahlberg will make it a good franchise. Since there really is not Indiana Jones or Dirk Pitt franchises out there that were as successful as Raiders. I look forward to seeing how it works out and the script-writers make it worth a franchise. Im getting tired of superhero and zombie movies and looking forward to going back to action adventures As shown in next years Cowboys Aliens movies with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. Elena should be Erica Durance
Walberg is not who I think of as Nathan Drake. I'd be thinking of Nathan Fillion, Jerry O'Connel or even Chris O'donnel...but Walberg is too stuck-up in his demeanor.
Hopefully it won't suck like Max Payne did.
I like the idea and I think Walberg is a great choice just not Joe Pesci
This sounds pretty awesome..Cant Wait!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
