**UPDATE 09/27: The "500 DAYS in Downtown L.A." tour has reached capacity – but the Conservancy will post a self-guided version of the tour on their site in the next few days (click here).**
This announcement just in from our friends at the preservation group, the Los Angeles Conservancy – for any (500) Days of Summer fans who might be visiting (or living in) L.A. next weekend...
There will be a (500) Days of Summer highlights walking tour to benefit the L.A. Conservancy on Sunday, August 30th from 3-6 pm. You can meet at the Old Bank DVD building, 400 S. Main Street (at 4th Street) in downtown L.A. and see some of the historic locations featured in the film such as the Barclay Hotel (cafe where Tom's friends hang out), the Bradbury Building (where Tom takes an important meeting) and the Angels' Knoll Bench (Tom's favorite spot). Your guides on this journey will be Marty Cummins, the key assistant location manager for the movie and Harry Medved, co-author of the SoCal movie location guidebook, "Hollywood Escapes." There's no charge, although donations are welcome and Medved will be selling copies of his book with proceeds going directly to the L.A. Conservancy.

This sounds like fun - although too bad I'm not able to be there, either. Loved the movie, though, and thought it had a great take on the City of Angels apart from the usual beach side vistas...nothing wrong with those, either. Favorite L.A. location movies: L.A. Story, Grand Canyon, Heat and Xanadu. Yeah, that's right. Xanadu. Deal.

Just one weekend!? I hope if enough people show up to this one there will be more to come. I live in LA but sadly can't make it on Sunday!
