Exclusive: 'Capitalism: A Love Story' Poster Premiere!

By: John Halecky on August 27, 2009 at 10:08AM Comments (22)

That's right! The kind folks over at Overture have given us the poster premiere for Michael Moore's new documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story, opening October 2nd. The poster reminds me of some of graphic designer Saul Bass's work who designed the posters for such classics as Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder and North by Northwest. I wonder if that was intentional?!

So, what do you think? Are you looking forward to Moore's next doc? Leave it to him to make even the global financial crisis entertaining!

This is a ridiculous film! Capitalism is the reason America is indeed the best country in the world. Only Americans disagree with this because they don't see the horrible outcomes caused by other governments. It is a wonderful thing that businessmen are all about making money, if they were not they would not have any money to pay our salaries! Lets stop Michael Moore and his nonsense! If you would like to know more about why capitalism is the best system, read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It is interesting and shows beyond a doubt why capitalism and the free market work and other systems fail.

Seems you know little about capitalism. Money to pay your salaries? Smith and Locke created a capitalism that doesn't even resemble our current system. Originally it was intended to exchange goods and services. Now its about the exchange of labor markets. Wage/Labor capitalism is not product/service capitalism. Once factories were created, people began getting the salaries you speak of. These salaries represented less than the value of the labor, so that the company and those than ran it, could make a profit off of your labor. That is not true capitalism. This began to create a disparity between the rich and the poor which has gotten exponentially worse over the last 75 years. [BLOCKED WEBSITE]

Yes Is good for you that might have been born in a rich family. the one who can produce every stupid product to convince the people . Paying congress and lobbist to advocate for laws that just benefit the big fish in the capitalist systems. A system that that is manged by many selfish people that when they find an opportunity to block a small business or untrepeneur that is trying to compete with them with a product or service that is better than them. They block this business in order not to let it go on.. Also another thing is a system to burocratic and discriminatory that only hired people by color and race and because you are the friend of somebody even though they don't have skills. When William Moore is to critisize you

You have got to be kidding me. You act as if today's capitalism is the perfect economic and social system. It has it's problems just like any other system. Many of the reasons for criminal business practices is because "businessmen are ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY." Ethics comes second. People shouldn't be so quick to forget the debacles of firms like Enron, Worldcom, PG&E and many others that have caused not only financial injury but physical harm to countless people and families. I wouldn't be against a film that makes us step back, look at our system, see problems that arise because of it, so that maybe we'll be able to do something about it. The system we live in today came about because of change. At least see it before you criticize.

People love to live in their little vacuums paying no attention to silly things like history. I'm an Independent and my big problem with the conservative pundits is that their story doesn't wash. For most of our existence the world was exactly the way they want it to be and it was a mess. You had crushing monopolies (look up Standard Oil). You had devastating ego battles (research Robber Barons). You had a country without any child labor laws resulting in kids under 10 working endlessly in coal mines. You had SLAVERY for crying out loud. Add to this Black Friday, the savings and loan scandal, Enron, Worldcomm, etc. Is that really what we should be hoping to return to?

You people are idiots. Capitalism is the only system where anyone can succeed. For example: Michael Moore. He uses the capitalist system to make millions of dollars selling movies to people like you. Socialist systems create two classes of people: those who work and those who rule. It is a lot like old fuedal systems. You remember. Kings and serfs (slaves). Do you believe his other lies. Cuba, practically a third world country, has a better health care system than the USA. Marlyn Manson and the NRA killed the kids at Columbine. By the way everybody had slavery and child labor problems. A problem that still exist today in lots of places. Think about that when you are eating that chocolate bar in your new sneakers.

Wow calling people idiots and then inputting information that was never mentioned. Now that's a way to get an educated debate started. Sounds a lot like you take your debating tips from the people that made up death panels. =( If you really had read what was written prior to your comments none of us actually mentioned favoring a socialist or "feudal" (you misspelled it) system. In fact, all that was really mentioned was that efforts should be made to improve the system we live in today and that works such as this film help us to see our lives from another perspective. There is a very long list of social and economic issues that arise from today's world. Let us not be so ethnocentric to assume this country is perfect.

you are an idiot. capitolism makes the rich richer while making the poor poorer. Marilyn Manson had nothing to do with columbine. Nothing. Idiots like you should think before you speak, that would make things better. At least Michael Moore backs up what he says with facts any American can research and learn on their own; but some peolpe are lazy and choose just to believe what pundits tell them. You and those like you are going to be society's downfall. Why do you think the older countries in Europe, who are much wiser, long ago moved past thinking like people like you? Freekin pathetic. Done.

So you think complete government control will distribute goods better than a capitalist system. I think you forget about the socialist experiments of the past. The USSR, under a true marxist authoritarianism, successfully distributed, or should I say infected, the masses with poverty. It wasn't until the glasnost, and the consequential de-marxification, that the USSR saw improvements in economic standards and human rights. China, much the same, did not see improvement in economic standards until loosening their rhetoric. My point in all this is that individuals do not preform well without proper incentive. Incentive, there in, is the key concept of capitalism. Can things be improved? Certainly. But is capitalism to blame or the gov't

Incentive? What exactly does that say for us, that we will only do good things for money? Although no one in these comments has promoted socialism, (so you have set up a straw man argument), money as a motivator is the lowest form of progress. One of my communist friends from the former Soviet Union, who chose what they did for a living (another Republican lie), did so because they loved what they did NOT because they got paid more. As a result, she is one of the best in her field worldwide because she does what she does out of love and not lust for money. Capitalism is good when it adheres to the principals of their creators and exchanges goods and services by the self-employed. Otherwise, employees must own part of their companies.

Lol, this cracks me up. People who are saying that capitalism is so bad, are the ones who are screaming they aren't getting enough money, so in other words, the "business owners" aren't the only ones who are greedy. I've met rich greedy people, and I've met poor greedy people. And you can't be so ignorant as to say money is the lowest form of motivation. Money allows us to dream and work hard for a better lifestyle. If capitalism is so bad, then why are more and more people wanting to come to the U.S. to live the "American Dream"? That's why people have come here, to live in freedom and live a capitalist lifestyle, to make their dreams come true! If you don't want that type of lifestyle, then move to Russia, or China.

Mr. (Moron) Moore seems to forget that Capitalism is what made him a multi-millionaire. It is our freedom of speech and the Constitution that gives him the ability to spew his Communist "I hate America and everything it stands for" garbage. He berates the very things that made him rich. I don't see him handing out his money to anyone. He is raking it in on the stupidity and selfishness of the American people that thrive on the negative and forget the great things this country has done for its people and people all over the world. I don't see Mr. Moore moving to Cuba. If he thinkgs Cuba takes better care of its people than the US then why doesn't he take his money and move there. You won't ever see that happen.

Society is to blame. kllunn. This post is about Michael Moore and the fact that his other movies are propaganda. By the way, pundits are what we all are. I am sure that we are all on soap boxes. That is the purpose of this forum.

Michael Moore did not blame Marilyn Manson for Columbine. He interviewed Manson so he could share his views on the shooting because he was blamed by the media. [The two guys responsible for the shootings listened to Marilyn Manson.] Watch the ******* thing before criticizing it.
