Oz The Great and Powerful is on pace to be the year's first break-out box office hit. Having banked $2 million at midnight screenings, the film is projected to finish opening weekend with around $75 million.
The man playing the title role is no stranger. In fact, he may be one of the busiest guys in show business. Oz director Sam Raimi described James Franco as a man who "needs a constant injection of the creative in order to survive." [Vulture]
All you have to do is look back at the past year to get a taste of how Franco keeps himself busy.
In 2012, he filmed five movies, had a recurring role on the TV soap opera General Hospital, starred on another television series, Hollywood Heights, guested on FCU: Fact Checkers Unit, volunteered at the Art of Elysium, taught a classes at New York University and USC in filmmaking as well as teaching a screenwriting course at UCLA where he's already an adjunct professor teaching English. This is in addition to making his dance-theater directorial debut in which, of course, he narrated all the performances, directed two short films for songs, filmed a 90-minute docu-drama about poet Hart Crane and released his band's first single and first EP.
And you thought Jessica Chastain was busy.
