He may be known for his current involvement in the Marvel Universe, but director Joss Whedon took the time in late-2011 to film his take on William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Shot over 12 days entirely in black and white at Whedon's house, the film premiered at last year's Toronto Film Festival to general positive reviews.
As the film is set to make its U.S. premiere at the SXSW Film Festival, a new trailer has arrived on Yahoo Movies. Check it out below. The film stars Whedon favorites Nathan Fillion and Clark Gregg and arrives in theaters June 7, 2013.
- Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has gathered a solid group of actors and now the attention has turned toward casting some female talent. The first actress to join Reeves' Apes sequel is none other than Keri Russell who is enjoying a bit of a career renaissance of late. In addition to currently starring in Dark Skies, Russell also headlines the FX television series The Americans.
Variety reports that Russell will play the female lead in the film, though there were no specific details on whether that character would be a love interest to Jason Clarke who joined a few weeks ago.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes co-stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman and (of course) Andy Serikis and is due in theaters May 23, 2014.
- Finally, we wrap up this fix with a look at the latest character poster for Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills which features Sofia Vergara showing off her, um, gun rack. Sufficed to say, Rodriguez knows exactly who his audience is for this sequel to the 2010 action flick starring Danny Trejo in the title role.
Machete Kills arrives in theaters September 13 and co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, Antonio Banderas among others.
