Get ready for one of the more absurd rumors you'll read all week. According to Comic Book Movie – who've been shoveling out some doozies this past month – Christopher Nolan is entertaining the idea of giving a cameo to Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight Rises. Since Legder unfortunately passed on prior to The Dark Knight hitting theaters, in order to do this they'd have to either use old never-before-used footage from The Dark Knight and/or some sort of CGI wizardry, similar to what The Sopranos did with Tony's mother Livia after that actress had passed away.

i think its a good idea
I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, of course I selfishly want to see Mr. Ledger on screen again, on the other, out of respect for his talent and rights to be the director of his own career, I feel no one has the right to make this decision to appear in any sequels but the actor himself. Sadly, that can't happen. Nor can we go back in time and give him the Oscar he surely deserved for Brokeback Mountain.
I think that if they tried to replace him it would be dumb. But it's also up to the family.
As long as they don't replace him I would love to see what they come up with. He was a great actor and it was such a shame he passed.
This is a TERRIBLE idea, and disrespectful to the memory of an actor loved by millions.
The Darkest Kinght
The family would have the option to veto any use of Heath's image. However, they are looking out for his daughter and that means allowing his appearance. My brother was extremely protective of Heaths performance and that is why you will never see a single outtake from TDK.. If Chris decides to use any extra footage he will only do it if will add to both the story and Heath's legacy. After he passed, my brother still had to finish the film, which meant seeing his lead actor everyday as he edited the film. I visited him during this time and could see his pain. My younger brother is extremely protective of Heath, so I am certain that whatever he crafts would be seamless and truly inspiring.
Good Ideain theroy although in cinema we have seen alot of good ideas turn to shite really quick if they do it i hope its in good taste and give Ledger the honor and respect due to him and his epic acting as The Joker

I think it's a great idea! That would be an excellent way to include the Joker in this sequel, especially since the technology to do so is available. Of course the permission lies in the hands of his family first. Heath was such a talented actor and his role as the Joker can never be duplicated or forgotten!
I think that adding a clip of Ledger would do this film justice since he made the movie and made the Joker's role something that will never be forgotten. A tribute in the next movie is the least that Nolan can do.
My heart broke when he died. He was one of the greats. It would be great to see him on the big screen one last time, but just how long will we keep pushing the ticket of one last time?
So do we let his masterpiece stay in place and a memory forever cherished for who his soul was or bring forth something that might not work so well and tarnish our memories of him.
Health, you left too soon~
I miss Heath Ledger and his roll as the Joker is priceless. I absolutely think that this is a great idea. His death was a great and tragic loss.
I think it's a wonderful idea! Nolan would be considered an amazing person for paying such a tribute to Heath! Heath Ledger NAILED the part of the Joker! To those of you who think he or his role is replaceable, even as a Batman fan myself, I have to respectfully disagree! No one has to kill the Joker off just lock his character up for good or something then that leaves the door open. I think flash backs or however they may work in the special cameo would ROCK! Nolan should ask Ledger's family for permission to do this, most definitely! I would go see Dark Knight Rises if it can happen!
i say do it , they did the same in the crow why not here!! do it yes , now if the only did a sequal to mr & mrs smith2
I read an interview where Nolan said this is not happening. But in any event, Nolan can do whatever he wants and I'll be alright with it. He has not let me down yet.
i think its a good idea.

If they do it right, and have it look impressive, then by all means
He said NO, Latest rumors are the speculation of bringing Two Face back. Nolan's comments around the time he was asked regarding the new villain pointed to the fate of Harvey in TDK and that he might not be finished . But Aaron Eckhart has come out today and said as much as he would want to return Nolan has told him no.
Nolan shot these rumors down yesterday. Why would he use old footage or cgi Ledger. He died at the end of The Dark Knight
It would be Great to see Heath Ledger Cameo in The Dark Knight Rises. I also think it pays tribute to the performance that he gave in the Dark Knight.
I think it's a wonderful idea. Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the joker, and it does tie the films together.
i think its a gr8 idea, even though it wont b real, still, who wouldnt want 2 c the joker again. he played the hell out of that role and made the dark knight movie his own. i say yess!!!
I feel, although unnecessary, having a brief cameo by a previous characters does tie in the new film with the preceding one. It's not about storyline or plot development but it is a way of providing continuity in a film's timeline; to bridge a gap after a year or so between films. In this case, it would provide that continuity, as well as, pay homage to (what many agree was) the best part of The Dark Knight.
I, for one, like the idea (as long as it is done well). Please don't cheese it up.
BAD BAD IDEA. Come on guys Heath did a terrific job playing the role of the joker, no doubt about that. Now it is a tragedy about what happened to him for whatever reason, But looking at it from a movie goer batman fanatic I have to say that just thinking about killing off the joker because the actor passed away? come on there are many actors who can play the role just as well, you guys can't deny. I hope that these guys change their minds on this one. I would love to see the joker in the third installment.
I don't get how the writer thinks it could be absurd or tacky. It can be done and I would be fine with it. Then again I didn't like Cillian Murphy's cameo in TDK so maybe they should just leave Ledger out of this as well.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
