It's been a good year for Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis. Not only did she become the youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee last month, she locked in a role in Steve McQueen's next film, Twelve Years a Slave.
With her career rapidly rising, EW reports that Wallis is now in talks to star in Sony's remake of the Broadway musical Annie. The project, which has taken several years to get going, is being co-produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z and had initially been developed as a starring project for Smith's daughter Willow.
Willow dropped out of the project last month after aging out of the role. Will Smith recently said in an interview, "Willow was supposed to be doing Annie, we got Jay-Z to do the movie, got the studio to come in and Willow has such a difficult time on tour with [her song] Whip My Hair and she said, 'You know Daddy, I don't think so. I have a better idea, how about I just be 12.'"
Sony, Jay-Z and Will Smith are still very eager to proceed with the project and casting will have to be set soon as filming is slated to begin this fall. There is no release date for the film, but we can probably expect it to arrive in theaters sometime in 2014.
Do you think Wallis is a good fit for the role? Should all parties involved scrap the project and move on, much like Willow has? Sound off below!

Most definately this young little-dynomo Actress Q. Wallis would be spectacular in the Starring Role of the ANNIE movie (A Classic) : and hope that Will Smith and Jay Z continue supporting the Project and the young teen Willa Smith can still be apart of the Project in a supporting Role. She was pretty amazing in the Beast of the Southern Wild movie...'very feisty, adventureous and quite protective, too. Great movie and all around Cast: BEAST Of the Southern Wild.

She would be a good actress to play the part.

I don't really like her character, I have only seen one episode of Jessie and all I know is that she is very sassy but I guess that's due to her character. The only other credits she has was her parts in The Smurfs and Boardwalk Empire

Was she in the toy store scene matt
Yes
Besides that 100th episode Sandra Bullock will guest star in the Minions movie
It said she's gonna voice the villain
That'll be cool
Yep, It said Minions will be about how the Minions have been around throughout time and Sandra Bullock's character will be another villain who had the Minions before Gru
You know this might be a good Christmas present for us
Yep and for me birthday gift. I bet a lot of commericals will be about the Minions and Christmas
I don't watch a lot of commercials but that'd be quite an advertising campaign
By the way matt Johnny Test creator Scott Fellows is writing the show's 100th episode and it is getting to be a double length show dedicated to the families that have been watching the show for the past 7 and a half years
I don't care about Johnny Test anymore as I've told you but thanks for telling me that
Sorry matt i don't care about it much anymore not after that "trial" back in the summer of 2009
By the way Matt about what I said about Foster's last December. After 2006, I thought the aftermath of Good Wilt Hunting was gonna take over the show
I think my daughter would b better.
I don't know those people
Wallis is a good fit for the role. I would hope Willow would understand and help support the crew. She could still appear in the movie as a different character. Will Smith should do a project with his daughter. It is great to see father and son in Pursuit of Happiness and After Earth. It would be cool to see a father and daughter movie.
Annie will still be good
You have to see it to know
I know
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
"Squirrel!"
