New year, new movies! As we near the end of 2023, we asked over 8,000 ticket-buyers what they're looking forward to in 2024.
We learned that 90% of ticket-buyer plan to see multiple movies in theaters in 2024, with 81% more excited to go to the movies in 2024 than in 2023. And they're planning to go big: 68% pan to watch multiple movies in IMAX and other premium large-screen formats in 2024.
“2023 was a monumental year for moviegoers and theaters alike, with blockbusters like Barbie, Oppenheimer, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and many more uniting audiences of all ages to experience brilliant stories on the big screen,” says Fandango Managing Director, Erik Davis. “The new year is looking to bring even more people back into theaters through returning franchises such as Deadpool, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice and Despicable Me, beloved reimagined stories like Mean Girls and Wicked Part 1, and highly anticipated action blockbusters like Dune: Part Two and A Quiet Place: Day One.”
