this movie was just way out there and it made you think, "are they serious?" and "would this really happen?" I expected more out of this movie. When I saw that Kevin Bacon was leading I really wanted to see it and saw it opening day, but the storyline just wasnt all there. There were some heartfelt parts, but it just got weird from the middle on.
KEVIN BACON CONTINUES TO SHOW HIS EXCELLENT ACTING SKILLS AS A REALISTIC BUSINESSMAN - FATHER WHO'S LIFE GOES FROM FABULOUS TO TRAGIC IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. HIS OVERWHELMING GRIEF, RAGE AND ULTIMATLELY ILL THOUGHT OUT ACTIONS ARE ONLY TOO REAL FOR THE "AVERAGE" AMERICAN HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE. I FELT FRUSTRATION WITH SOME OF HIS CHOICES BUT UNDERSTOOD HIS STRUGGLE. THE SUPPORTING CAST WAS EXCELLENT. KUDOS TO BOTH GARRETT HEDLUND AND JOHN GOODMAN FOR CREATING BOTH FRIGHTENING BUT BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS.KELLY PRESTON CONTINUES TO SHOW THAT SHE SHOULD BE USED MORE IN MAINSTREAM HOLLYWOOD FILMS.THE FILM IS UNSETTLING BUT THE TOPIC REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED MORE. WE DO NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION AS BOTH SIDES ALWAYS LOSE !
If you are into action/fighting/tough guy films, don't miss this one. But in terms of plausibility, the plot only seemed credible for the first 30 minutes... after that it became silly, occasionally cheesy, and predictable.
