    Big Love in Big Eden

    by sagrat

One of the most enjoyable films I think I have seen in quite a long time. A thoughtful - and thought-provoking - exploration of the various forms love takes: platonic, spiritual, familial, true-friend, romantic and physical. Witty and sensitive, serious and tender, set against the natural beauty of Montana, we get to leave New York and most of the typical cliches of this genre of film behind. The slow, truthful and poetically woven storytelling of this gorgeous film is so honest to the culture of the great Northwest, and completely plausible and necessary as we watch our main character free himself from the past in order to embrace his future. And, the poignant hesitancy of Pike resonates for anyone who has felt that free-fall into a love for another person, but which must be slowed so that the beloved can catch up. What a joy this film is to watch.
