We are bursting at the seams to get back into movie theaters, and we're especially excited about the fantastic lineup of movies that awaits us all — films that stand ready to lure us inside to enjoy the awe, mystery and unique wonders of the cinematic experience. Here's a preview of the biggest movies arriving in theaters this summer.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD (August 6)
Margot Robbie reprises her beloved role as Harley Quinn for the latest entry of the DC Extended Universe, working again with ‘Suicide Squad’ anti-heroes Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). For this impossible mission, brought to you by ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn, the eclectic ensemble of comic book obscurities includes Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena) and a man-eating monstrosity known as King Shark.

FREE GUY (August 13)
From director Shawn Levy (‘Stranger Things’), this action comedy stars Ryan Reynolds (‘Deadpool’) as Guy, a bank teller who realizes he is actually a “non-player character” in a violent video game — just one of those digital extras populating the background. After becoming self-aware, he goes rogue in an attempt to actually be the hero of his world and save the game.

RESPECT (August 13)
Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for her feature film debut playing a character inspired by Supremes vocalist Florence Ballard in the 2006 musical adaptation ‘Dreamgirls.’ Now the singer-turned-actress is front and center for this authorized Aretha Franklin biopic. Prior to her death in 2018, the Queen of Soul personally chose Hudson for the lead role, so you can rest easy knowing the movie’s title will also apply to her portrayal.

DON’T BREATHE 2 (August 13)
“The Blind Man” returns in this sequel to the hit 2016 horror movie ‘Don’t Breathe,’ with Stephan Lang reprising the role. Following the events of the first installment, he’s been hiding out in a cabin accompanied by a young orphan he saved from a house fire. But when she’s kidnapped, he’s forced to leave his sanctuary and come to the girl’s rescue using his heightened remaining senses.

PAW PATROL: THE MOVIE (August 20)
The ‘Paw Patrol’ franchise is on a roll! No job is too big — and neither is any screen — for everyone’s favorite heroic pups, as they head to cinemas for their first theatrical adventure. Join Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, Zuma and Rubble, along with Ryder, as they team up with a dachshund named Liberty and save a nearby metropolis from the exploits of Mayor Humdinger.

THE PROTÉGÉ (August 20)
Get ready for an onslaught of action that will be unleashed when Anna (Maggie Q), the most accomplished contract killer in the world, vows revenge after her legendary mentor (Samuel L. Jackson) is savagely killed. Getting in her way is another killer (Michael Keaton), whose true motives have not yet been revealed.

CANDYMAN (August 27)
Someone must have said his name five times, because Candyman (Tony Todd) is back, almost thirty years after the release of the first movie of the same name. Nia DaCosta (‘Little Woods’) takes the helm of this direct sequel, which is produced by Jordan Peele, and it stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (‘Aquaman’) as a young artist living in the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the notorious Cabrini-Green Homes had been located.

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS (September 4)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces a mysterious organization that catches the heroic Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) in a far-reaching web of intrigue. Awkwafina and Tony Leung Chiu-Wai also star in the action-adventure, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton ('Just Mercy').

THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD (May 14)
Angelina Jolie, teaming with actor turned acclaimed writer/director Taylor Sheridan ('Hell or High Water,' 'Yellowstone'), stars as a survival expert who must protect a teenage murder witness from two assassins — not to mention a raging forest fire — in a thriller that makes us nervous just watching the trailer.

SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW (May 14)
Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson star as a brilliant police detective and his father, respectively, in the gripping, gruesome thriller. It's a race against the clock to solve a murderous puzzle, marked by bloody clues and dead bodies, left by a copycat serial killer who draws terrifying inspiration from the legendary Jigsaw.

CRUELLA (May 28)
Known primarily as a harsh, dog-hating character in the '101 Dalmatians' family adventures, Emma Stone shows us how her story begins as an aspiring costumer designer, gifted with an unusual assortment of talents, before a series of unfortunate circumstances push her to assume the persona of the infamous Cruella de Vil.

A QUIET PLACE PART II (May 28)
Emily Blunt leads her precious children away from their home in search of a new location that will be safe from the deadly creatures that have annihilated mankind, only to discover that the people who remain may pose an even greater threat. John Krasinski wrote and directed a nerve-jangling thriller.

THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT (June 4)
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the true story of the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect claimed demonic possession as a legal defense. Before that happens, though, a battle must be waged for the soul of a young boy.

BLACK WIDOW (July 9)
Before she became an Avenger, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) survived an incredibly tumultuous period in her life. Now she must tangle with dangerous secrets from her past that threaten to affect her future in an action-packed adventure. Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz also star.

SPIRIT UNTAMED (June 4)
Young Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced) misses her late mother dearly, yet she is determined to build a new life for herself in the Old West, astride a wild mustang named Spirit. Eiza González, Julianne Moore, Mckenna Grace, Walton Goggins and Jake Gyllenhaal also star in the animated adventure.

ESCAPE ROOM: TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS (July 16)
Zoey and Ben (Taylor Russell and Logan Miller) return for another round of deadly puzzles in this sequel to the hit 2019 horror movie based on the escape room fad. Will they both make it out alive again? With the game masters at Minos coming up with even more challenging spaces, all bets are off for anyone’s survival.

IN THE HEIGHTS (June 11)
The streets of Upper Manhattan come to joyous and vibrant life in a spirited adaptation of the Broadway smash musical created by Lin-Manuel Miranda ('Hamilton'). Directed by Jon M. Chu ('Crazy Rich Asians'), the all-star cast is led by Anthony Ramos, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Stephanie Beatriz and Jimmy Smits.

SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY (July 16)
Twenty-five years after the release of the original ‘Space Jam,’ Bugs Bunny and the rest of the ‘Looney Tunes’ are back in action on the basketball court, now with help from current NBA superstar LeBron James. Their challengers: avatars made from various Warner Bros.-owned movie properties, from ‘Batman’ and ‘The Matrix’ to classics like ‘Casablanca’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ all arranged by an evil computer algorithm played by Don Cheadle.

PETER RABBIT 2: THE RUNAWAY (June 11)
When newlyweds Thomas (Domhnall Gleeson) and Bea (Rose Byrne) go away on a trip, the irrepressible Peter Rabbit (James Corden) decides to go away as well, only to discover that the big city may not be quite his cup of tea. The delightful new new adventure also features Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, Lennie James and David Oyelowo.

OLD (July 23)
Beach vacations are great for relaxation and rejuvenation — they put a pause on our lives and the stresses that age us too quickly in our day to day grind. But what if there was a beach where everyone started growing older rapidly? That’s the ironic setup of M. Night Shyamalan’s latest mind-bending thriller, which follows a family’s trip to a secluded tropical spot that’s far from invigorating.

THE HITMAN’S WIFE’S BODYGUARD (June 16)
Stressed-out, top-flight bodyguard Ryan Reynolds takes a sabbatical that is swiftly interrupted by Salma Hayek, who arrives to enlist his services on behalf of her husband, top-flight hitman Samuel L. Jackson. The two have a combative past, which is hilariously pushed to extremes when the three try to save each other.

SNAKE EYES: G.I. JOE ORIGINS (July 23)
Based on the popular Hasbro action figures, and serving as a reboot of the ‘G.I. Joe’ movie franchise, this spin-off solo adventure tracks the origins of the titular character (Henry Golding) and his nemesis, Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji). With this highly anticipated martial arts action movie, fans will see Snake Eyes in his early years training as a ninja before becoming a commando for the G.I. Joe Team.

F9: THE FAST SAGA (June 25)
It's all about family in the wildest motorized action extravaganza yet, as Dom (Vin Diesel) and his team (Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson) come under attack by the vengeful Cipher (Charlize Theron) and her new associate, Dom's forsaken brother Jakob (John Cena). Take heed: cars will fly and trucks will flip.

THE GREEN KNIGHT (July 30)
Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander and Joel Edgerton star in a glorious fantasy that upends expectations. The classic tale follows a brave soul on a perilous journey to confront a legendary knight. The visionary David Lowery ('Pete's Dragon') directed.

ZOLA (June 30)
Detroit waitress A'Ziah King (Taylour Paige) and her new best friend Stefani (Riley Keough) embark on a rambunctious road trip to Florida that soon transforms into an unforgettable odyssey, marked by unreliable men, professional criminals and random mayhem. Janicza Bravo directed; the story was first told in a series of tweets.

JUNGLE CRUISE (July 30)
In the spirit of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, this adventure comedy is based on the pun-tastic Walt Disney theme park attraction of the same name. The movie is set in the 1920s and stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt as a riverboat captain and scientist, respectively, on a quest to find a mythical tree believed to have magical healing powers — before a rival expedition gets to it first.

Matt Damon stars in the unexpected crime thriller as an ordinary father from Oklahoma who travels to France, seeking justice on behalf of his beloved daughter (Abigail Breslin), who has been accused of murder. Academy Award-winner Tom McCarthy ('Spotlight') directed.
