11 Movies You Didn't Know the 'Aloha' Stars Were In
The cast of ‘Aloha’ is packed with stars: Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams and Bill Murray are just the beginning. Let’s look at some of the other big movies these actors did, playing roles you may have forgotten about.
All About Steve (2009)
Sandra Bullock had an amazing 2009, but along with ‘The Proposal’ and ‘The Blind Side,’ she also starred in this turkey. And playing the “Steve” of the title? Bradley Cooper, who had just made it onto the A-list that summer thanks to ‘The Hangover.’
The House Bunny (2008)
Emma Stone’s rise was even more meteoric than Cooper’s. 2007’s ‘Superbad’ put her on the radar. 2010’s ‘Easy A’ made her a star. In between, she played a nerdy sorority girl glammed up by Anna Faris in this surprise hit.
The Rocker (2008)
That same year, Stone played a struggling guitarist in this big-screen vehicle for ‘The Office’ star Rainn Wilson. The movie flopped, despite a stellar cast that included Stone, Josh Gad (at right, next to Wilson), Christina Applegate and…
…Bradley Cooper, playing a hair metal doofus named “Trash Grice.” And yes, those are funnymen Will Arnett and Fred Armisen as Cooper’s bandmates. Almost makes you want to see ‘The Rocker,’ doesn’t it?
The Hot Chick (2002)
Rachel McAdams truly “arrived” in 2004, with back-to-back hits ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘The Notebook.’ But before that came this comedy, in which she swapped bodies with Rob Schneider. Schneider got the better deal! (P.S. Note Anna Faris at left.)
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Okay, you probably knew that Cooper and McAdams were both in this hit, as an ill-fated couple soon to be broken up by Owen Wilson. Hard to believe that Cooper still had four years to go before achieving leading man status, though.
Wild Things (1998)
‘Aloha’ costar Bill Murray is such a memorable presence that even his cameos are the stuff of legend. Still, we almost forgot that, during a quiet period in his career in the late ‘90s, he popped up in this sexy thriller as Matt Dillon’s lawyer.
Dumb and Dumber To (2014)
Speaking of cameos, Jeff Daniels’ “new roommate” bears a remarkable resemblance to ‘Breaking Bad’ character Walter White. Is that Bryan Cranston in the hazmat suit and gas mask? Nope, it’s Bill Murray again.
Dreamgirls (2006)
Before ‘The Office’ made him famous, Rachel McAdams’ ‘Aloha’ boyfriend John Krasinski had several small parts in big movies, including this Oscar-winning showbiz musical (with John Lithgow at right).
Up in the Air (2009)
Raunchy comic actor Danny McBride plays it relatively straight in ‘Aloha,’ as he did as George Clooney’s potential brother-in-law in this acclaimed drama. Too bad McBride spent much of his screen time as a cardboard cutout.
Working Girl (1988)
This was Alec Baldwin’s breakout year, with the actor appearing in five studio pictures. Surely you remember him in ‘Beetlejuice’ and maybe even ‘Married to the Mob.’ But how about his role as Melanie Griffith’s boyfriend in this hit rom-com?
Almost Famous (2000)
Most ‘Aloha’ cast members are working with writer/director Cameron Crowe for the first time, but not Jay Baruchel, who as a teenager had a bit part in the film that would win Crowe his first Academy Award.
