Even with a whole ton of new content arriving in theaters this weekend, strong buzz helped Rise of the Planet of the Apes rise above the competition for a second week in a row, with the Planet of the Apes prequel scoring $27.5 million for a number one spot. Surprisingly, The Help slid in just behind Apes with $25.5 million, proving a popular novel has what it takes to beat a popular horror franchise unveiling their latest installment in terrifying 3D, as Final Destination 5 finished third with only $18.4 million (which was roughly $10 million shy of where The Final Destination opened back in 2009). As far as our other new releases go, 30 Minutes or Less rounded out the top five with $13 million, while Glee: The 3D Concert Movie couldn’t muster up enough dough to get it into the top 10, finishing in 11th place with only $5.7 million.
