Yesterday I was off battling the most horrific head cold known to man, so we missed our weekly poll where I ask you to rate the box office winner. Though it clocked in with a run time that was almost two and a half hours (really? For a Jaden Smith film?), that didn't stop folks from throwing most of their money at The Karate Kid remake this past weekend, as the film blew away the competition with $56 million.

'The Karate Kid'

But was it worth it? A good majority of critics really fell in love with this new, updated version of The Karate Kid, partly (I feel) because it was very similar to its 1984 counterpart, which brought back all kinds of nostalgic feelings. Plus it was just well made – it hit all the right spots, and gave audiences a little bit of everything. If there's one film so far this summer that's a perfect fit for the entire family, it's this one – and I think that's why it did so well.

What did you think of The Karate Kid? Better than the original, or just different enough to stand on its own? Sound off in our poll below and feel free to elaborate in the comments.
