Here we go, ladies and gents -- this weekend kicks off four months of reporting on some monstrous box office numbers because the year's biggest movies are about to drop a whole ton of awesome on theaters everywhere. It all begins right now with Iron Man 3, this summer's first film looking to break box office records. Naturally, we're here to predict whether or not it actually will.
So which records is Iron Man 3 looking to break? Well last year's The Avengers put up a record-breaking, three-day total of $207.4 million, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($169 million) and The Dark Knight Rises ($160.8 million) rounding out the all-time top three. Some folks suggest Iron Man 3, which has already grossed more than $300 million worldwide, is poised to collect $180 million this weekend, which would put it in sole possession of second place on the all-time list.
Our question to you: will it get there?
A little help before you make your final decision by voting in the poll below: Iron Man 3 took in an estimated $15.6 million in previews and midnight screenings, while The Avengers took in $18.7 million. Use that information as you wish, and go vote below.
