While speaking at Cannes this week, John C. Reilly confirmed to MTV that there is work being done on a rap album written and performed by he and Will Ferrell’s fictional characters from Step Brothers. Reilly said that while they had not recorded the album yet, writing has begun and he hopes to return to Cannes and “premiere the record on a boat, on a yacht.”

Even more interesting is that Reilly indicated that the album might lead to a sequel to Step Brothers. He said that he wouldn’t be interested in doing a sequel just for the sake of cashing in, though. Reilly explains, “That movie is so beloved by us and also people young and old, honestly. There’s such a strong connection to that ridiculous movie. We want to really make sure it’s the rocket sauce on the second time out.” He added that, “No one likes lame sequels,” so he doesn’t want to rush the process. Kudos on the use of “rocket sauce” in a sentence, though.
So are you interested in seeing Brennan Huff and Dale Doback on the big screen again? What kind of mayhem could they stir up this time and what do you think of this pending rap album?
