Ty Simpkins is only 12, yet he’s booking megamovie tentpole pictures with the speed and voracity of a cagey Hollywood veteran. 

The young actor, who shared screen time with Robert Downey Jr. in last summer’s Iron Man 3, reportedly landed a lead role in Colin Trevorrow’s upcoming Jurassic World, according to Deadline. His previous credits include War of the Worlds (directed by Jurassic executive producer Steven Spielberg), Insidious (and its sequel), Revolutionary Road and Little Children. Impressive resume. 
 


Deadline adds that two other names continue to swirl in conjunction with Jurassic World: Bryce Dallas Howard (who hasn’t been confirmed) and New Girl costar Jake Johnson – who costarred in Trevorrow’s fantastic time-travel romance Safety Not Guaranteed. Could the director be constructing a family unit consisting of Howard, Johnson and Simpkins to then terrorize with fresh, new dinosaurs? 
 
Anything is possible. We know nothing about the plot of Jurassic World, but are catching up on some of its technical specifics. The movie will be shot in 3D, and released on June 12, 2015.
 
Simpkins, meanwhile, can currently be seen in Insidious: Chapter 2, and is about to start filming Conversations with Andy, costarring alongside Willow Shields.
