This weekend sees the release of Vince Vaughn's third of four movies for 2013. Delivery Man follows The Internship, where he was reunited with Owen Wilson, as well as the indie A Case of You, which opened in a limited amount of theaters early this month and features Vaughn in a minor role. Next month, he'll reprise his small part as Wes Mantooth in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
What a busy year. But will it be his best? Not likely, looking at the reviews of the three movies that have come out so far. But box office-wise it'll be just fine. His greatest year with consideration of both critical and financial success was back in 2004, when he showed up in the popular and relatively acclaimed trio of Anchorman, Dodgeball and Starsky and Hutch.
Or maybe his best year is synonymous with his best movie, which many fans still claim is his breakthrough from 1996, Swingers. His performance as Trent in that indie sensation is certainly his most memorable and has stayed with him for the past 17 years, but is the movie itself his best? Well, it does have the most positive Rotten Tomatoes rating. As for his highest grossing movie, though, that'd be The Lost World: Jurassic Park, followed fairly close behind by his two 2005 hits, Wedding Crashers and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Personally, I like that last one the best. It did take in a lot of money thanks to the Brangelina star power, but it's actually a pretty underrated work of satire and screwball action comedy. Also not celebrated enough: Made. And then my favorite of his broader works: Old School.
How about your favorite? Anyone with a soft spot for Clay Pigeons? Someone want to dare say the Psycho remake? With the holidays approaching, anyone want to mention his two Christmas movies: Fred Claus and Four Christmases? There's probably more love for The Break-Up, The Dilemma and last year's The Watch.
