Antonio Banderas stars in the animated adventure Puss in Boots: The Last Wish as the titular character, a cat who suddenly realizes he has already used eight of his nine lives. What's there to do but go on another adventure to find a way to restore his past lives?
We hope you enjoyed the holiday season, but if not, you really need to watch Violent Night. (Good advice even if you enjoyed the holidays completely.) David Harbour stars as Santa Claus, who finds he must pause the longest night of his year when he encounters an unpleasant group of criminals, led by John Leguizamo, in the bloody action-comedy.
Sad to say, sometimes parents just don't understand their children, as revealed in The Inspection. A young gay man (Jeremy Pope), rejected by his mother (Gabrielle Union), enlists in the military, where he unexpectedly finds the life he has always sought.
Inspired by filmmaker Steven Spielberg's own life, The Fabelmans follows an aspiring filmmaker (Gabriel LaBelle) whose parents (Michelle Williams, Paul Dano) lovingly raise their children, teaching them about life from their differing perspectives as an artist and a scientist, respectively.
Don't worry, we won't give anything away about Spoiler Alert. We will mention, however, that Jim Parsons and Ben Aldridge star as a devoted couple whose love is tested when one of them is diagnosed with a terminal illness. (That's not a spoiler.) Sally Field also stars.
Deals
We've got a few good deals for you to peruse.
Family units don't require that you be related by blood, as director David Russell's splendid adventure Amsterdam, proves. The film is now available for the first time on sale, priced at $9.99 4K UHD. Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington are unrelated, but they quickly form a close-knit family unit in the titular city, before circumstances force them apart, only to bring them back together amidst a dead body, false accusations and a wicked scheme to defraud the nation.
If you are related by blood, you're bound to see a family member you recognize in director James Gray's wonderfully intimate and revealing Armageddon Time, now available to buy or rent. Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Banks Repeta and Anthony Hopkins star as members of a close-knit family in New York City whose bonds are tested by a crisis that threatens to tear them apart.
Of course, who couldn't use a good laugh in the dead of winter? Toni Collette and Anna Faris star in The Estate, now available to buy or rent, as sisters who endeavor to make a good impression on their terminally-ill Aunt Hilda (Kathleen Turner) before their other siblings can stake a claim on the family fortune.
