We're already falling hard for La La Land, in part because it's directed by Damien Chazelle -- whose debut film, Whiplash, was one of our favorite 2014 movies -- but also because this first trailer reveals a dazzlingly beautiful look at a love affair between two kids (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, reuniting for a third time on-screen) just trying to make it out there in Los Angeles, aka La La Land.
The film, due out December 2, is being billed as a musical. Its first trailer only gives us a taste of the music, with Gosling crooning an original song called "City of Stars" set against a montage of moments depicting the duo trying to make it big while still maintaining their soulful love affair. Watch it below.
Will La La Land put Chazelle back in the Oscar race? The film premieres next month at the Venice Film Festival and will likely make a couple festival stops prior to its December release, so we'll know soon how strong his follow-up to Whiplash really is.
