The first full trailer for next year's War for the Planet of the Apes is here, and not only does it tease an epic battle between humans and apes, but it also delivers what appears to be the kind of robust story we've been waiting for ever since that first movie. Caesar (Andy Serkis) is back, he's angrier than ever and he's on a journey down the river, Apocalypse Now style, in the hope of finding a way to save the world.

We previewed a bunch of footage from this film earlier in the week, and everything looked incredible. From a wild opening-battle sequence set in a jungle between human soldiers and an army of apes to the funny, soulful presence of a little girl and a new ape called "Bad Ape" (Steve Zahn), War for the Planet of the Apes feels like it might be the most balanced of all three films.
And that's not even mentioning Woody Harrelson's colonel; a military force who looks crazy and fierce and will easily be Caesar's greatest opponent to date. We're finally here -- we are on the verge of a planet of apes -- and now the fate of humanity will rest in the hands of the one creature who's been trapped between his loyalty to his own kind and his respect and compassion for humankind. Who will he choose? What will he do?
We'll find out when War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 14, 2017.
